NPA’s for 2012 announced

21/02/2012

The print industry’s Greatest Hits will be recognised and celebrated with a night of food, fun and entertainment at the 29th National Print Awards in Melbourne in April.

The theme for this year’s National Print Awards, which launched its website today at www.nationalprintawards.com.au , will be ‘Greatest Hits’ and that theme will be carried through to the gala Presentation Dinner, to be held at the Palladium Ballroom at Melbourne’s Crown Casino on Friday 20 April, 2012.

The Presentation Dinner is the culmination of a competition between those who came home with a pocket full of gold from their local State or Territory Print Industry Craftsmanship Awards (PICAs) to be named simply the best in the nation.

The chart-topping jobs vying for this year’s NPA Gold Medals have been produced by a total of 182 groups and individual artists around the country and those which have made the cut for this year’s ‘Best Of’ will be announced at the Dinner.

“The music industry has its ARIAs, the printing industry has the NPA,” said 29th NPA Chairman John Wanless this week. “Creating a print job which meets the most exacting standards of excellence is every bit as challenging as writing or producing a hit song – and we’re certainly intending to ensure we recognise our Greatest Hits with the same kind of style, even if we don’t have quite as many fans gathering outside the building for autographs.”

While it’s true that the winners take it all in terms of medals, Wanless says everyone’s a winner at the National Print Awards, as guests will not only enjoy a showcase of these Greatest Hits and have the chance to rub shoulders with the artists and producers behind them, but be treated to a night of fabulous food and great entertainment.

While strong attendance is expected from Melbournites, Wanless points out that April is a great time for those from other parts of the country to plan a visit and stay for the weekend.

Information about the 29th National Print Awards and the Presentation Dinner is already up on the new website and more details will be added as arrangements for the night are confirmed.
